Program to reach broader spectrum of farmers, ranchers, etc.
Last week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the new Pandemic Assistance for Producers program being established to support farmers, ranchers, and other producers impacted by market disruptions of the pandemic. After reviewing previous aid programs, the department is addressing gaps and disparities to increase outreach and financial assistance offered to disadvantaged and smaller producers, specialty crop and organic producers, and timber harvesters.
“The pandemic affected all of agriculture, but many farmers did not benefit from previous rounds of pandemic-related assistance,” said Secretary Vilsack. “Our new USDA Pandemic Assistance for Producers initiative will help get financial assistance to a broader set of producers, including to socially disadvantaged communities, small and medium-sized producers, and farmers and producers of less traditional crops.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president’s administration as programs are implemented or expanded to assist industries impacted by the pandemic.
- For Secretary Vilsack as he leads the USDA.
- For the farmers, ranchers, and other producers who require aid.
