Illegal border crossings continue to mount.
As many as 300 U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents are being added to those deployed to the southern border. The number of illegal migrants entering to the U.S. continues to increase. The exact number of CBP agents and the locations where they will go is not being disclosed.
Daily border crossings of illegal immigrants over the past month have surpassed a daily average not seen since fiscal year 2006. On one day alone, March 19, CBP officers apprehended or stopped 3,974 migrants, marking the single highest day since January of 2017. There were six other days this February where crossings surpassed 3,696.
The agency has been forced to relieve overcrowded detainment centers by releasing 107,000 illegal immigrants in the past three months, a number that averages over 1,000 per day. Many families are being released into the U.S. without a date to show up for an asylum hearing.
It is becoming widely known among migrants that they will be allowed to stay in the U.S. Drug cartels are bringing in drugs because there are not enough border personnel to stop the flow at the unsecured border.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For HHS officials trying to maintain the conditions at the border and in detainment centers.
- For CBP agents, some of whom now have childcare duties instead of border security.
- For Congress to take action on immigration reform.
