Lays out strategy to address border surge.
On Wednesday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas testified before the House Homeland Security Committee. He spoke about the current surge of people seeking to migrate to the United States at the Southern border which, according to a statement released by the secretary himself, is at a 20 year high. During his remarks to the House panel, he stated that DHS was prepared to address the surge.
He also stressed that the current situation was larger than individual agencies saying, “The situation is undoubtedly difficult. We are working around the clock to manage it, and it will take time. But we will not waver in our commitment to succeed. That is our job. We will also not waver in our values and our principles as a nation.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the Lord to give Secretary Mayorkas wisdom on how best to address the surge of people at the southern border.
- That the Department of Homeland Security would be able to work effectively with other agencies in dealing with the flood of asylum seekers.
- That the president’s administration would seek the Lord’s guidance on how best to direct immigration policy.
