Today, the White House is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. President Joe Biden is hosting Ireland’s Taoiseach Michael Martin for three days of virtual events. The virtual visit is in lieu of the traditional in-person visit due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. As White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said ahead of the meeting, “Although the pandemic prevents the traditional White House celebration of St. Patrick’s Day this year, we look forward to marking this holiday and our close relationship with Ireland in a safe way.”
Secretary Psaki added that, during their meetings, the two leaders “will reaffirm the deep, historic partnership and extraordinary people-to-people ties between the United States and Ireland. They will also discuss combatting COVID-19, addressing global challenges, increasing our shared prosperity, and supporting political and economic stability in Northern Ireland.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For God to be at work through the relationship between the U.S. and Ireland.
- For the President Biden and Taoiseach Martin to seek God’s wisdom on how to address each issue that they discuss today.
- For healing and recovery for both nations in the face of the ongoing pandemic.
