Garland confirmed for Attorney General, Fudge as HUD Secretary.
The Senate voted 70-30 on Wednesday to confirm Merrick Garland as Attorney General. The federal appellate judge won the support of Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, who played a key role in denying him a position on the Supreme Court in 2016.
Ahead of the vote, Senator McConnell said, “I’m voting to confirm Judge Garland because of his long reputation as a straight-shooter and legal expert. His left-of-center perspective has been within the legal mainstream.”
Marcia Fudge was likewise confirmed to be Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Her vote was 66-34. Her confirmation aids the president and other cabinet members in their strong focus to reduce economic inequalities.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Attorney General Garland and Secretary Fudge as they assume their respective duties as members of the president’s cabinet.
- For the attorney general as he leads the Department of Justice in upholding federal law.
- For the HUD secretary as she heads her department to support equality and transparency.
