Employment numbers surpass expectations.
The Department of Labor announced February’s job gains on Friday, highlighting the continued recovery from last year’s massive layoffs and closures. 370,000 jobs were added in February, which more than doubled the 166,000 added in January. The economy just needs another 9.5 million jobs to get back to where the job market was pre-pandemic.
The Labor Department also noted that unemployment fell from 6.3 percent to 6.2 percent. The highest point unemployment reached was 14.8 percent in April of last year. The White House has indicated that this rate of recovery is not fast enough. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said, “This is unacceptable. Congress must pass the American Rescue Plan now so we can get Americans back to work.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That God would lead the Labor Department to find the clearest and up-to-date information on the job market.
- For the White House to find the best route to recovery.
- That God would lead Congress to pass the best bills to help the nation recover.
