But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength. – Isaiah 40:31
When you read the biographies of some of God’s warriors in modern times, you will find that, to a person, they emphasize the priority of seeking the Lord in prayer and then waiting quietly in His presence for whatever He might bring. God and Jesus should be the center of your attention, A.W. Tozer wrote in one of his journals. “There is Master Planning, and there is the Master’s Planning. May we not confuse the two. To know His plan requires waiting before Him. Then we can be strong and take heart,” he wrote.
Quietly waiting before the Lord allows His peace to flood your hearts. It places you in a position of total dependency and submission. A portion of today’s verse reminds you that as you wait on the Lord, you will have your strength renewed, and you will mount up as on eagles’ wings. Waiting is empowering while it is at the same time restorative.
As you face decisions, you may be inclined to move ahead with urgency instead of waiting on God. Waiting is a challenge that becomes easier the more you keep your focus where it belongs. Pursue the peace of waiting on Him today. Intercede for the Supreme Court justices who know the Lord to also wait on God to renew them and guide them in His wisdom and strength.
Today’s Verse: Isaiah 40:31
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.

38 Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
