Hoping response acts as a deterrent.
On Thursday, President Biden authorized a strike on Iranian forces in Syria, targeting buildings along the Syrian border with Iraq. The Iranian-backed militia Kata’ib Hezbollah confirmed that one of their members had been killed in the attack. The strikes were intended to serve as a deterrent to future rocket attacks that have taken place in the region over the last months.
Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby stated that members of Congress were alerted to the strikes. Several members of the Senate decried the attacks. Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia said, “Offensive military action without congressional approval is not constitutionally absent extraordinary circumstances.” However, other lawmakers were more supportive. Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma called the strike, “the correct, proportionate response to protect American lives.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That the Lord would guide the president and his advisors on how best to preserve global peace.
- That God would help Congress would work cooperativetly with the White House to bring an end to tensions in the Middle East.
