Today, the president and first lady will be traveling to Texas to survey the situation in Houston as that state recovers from the severe winter storm that knocked out power during record low temperatures. Over a week later, millions are still without power. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will visit an emergency operations center, a food bank, and a FEMA vaccination center this afternoon.
On Thursday, the president’s administration authorized airstrikes against multiple facilities in Syria that Iranian-backed militia groups have been using.
Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said, “These strikes were authorized in response to recent attacks against American and Coalition personnel in Iraq, and to ongoing threats to those personnel. Specifically, the strikes destroyed multiple facilities located at a border control point used by a number of Iranian-backed militant groups.“ He stated this “proportionate military response“ was coupled with diplomatic efforts and consultation with Coalition partners.
Kirby continued, “The operation sends an unambiguous message: President Biden will act to protect American and Coalition personnel. At the same time, we have acted in a deliberate manner that aims to de-escalate the overall situation in both eastern Syria and Iraq.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For God to give the president and emergency officials discernment in their recovery efforts in Texas.
- For protection and a quick recovery for Texans who are enduring power outages.
- For the president and Pentagon to seek God’s guidance and wisdom in any and all measures they take to protect U.S. military personnel and allied partners.
