“Need to go further,” says Senator Schumer.
The $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan package is expected to pass the House of Representatives this week. The Senate will vote on the bill before mid-March, according to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York.
The senator also said they will consider another Biden Administration stimulus package after the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 bill is signed. “I think we need to go further than just the American Rescue Plan,” he said. “We need to have a strong stimulus to get our long-term economy going.”
He said lawmakers would soon consider a major “Build Back Better” infrastructure and jobs package proposed during the president’s campaign. He said the legislation “should have big infrastructure, it should be green, it should include communities that are left out, it should deal with worker training.”
Senator Schumer said the package could be as high as $4 trillion.
