Looking to bring Americans safely back home.
Jake Sullivan, the White House national security advisor, said in an interview that communications with Iran had begun over that country’s detention of American citizens.
Dozens of individuals, including some Americans, have been arrested in recent years, mostly on espionage charges. Human rights activists claim Iran has tried to use the detentions to obtain concessions from other countries, although Tehran dismisses that allegation.
Sullivan said it was a “significant priority” of President Biden and his administration to get those Americans “safely back home.” When asked if the administration had begun hostage negotiations with Tehran, Sullivan said, “We have begun to communicate with the Iranians on this issue. We will not accept a long-term proposition where they continue to hold Americans in an unjust and unlawful manner.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the U.S. officials negotiating with the Iranian regime for the release of detained Americans.
- For God to be with Americans being held in prisons in Iran, their health and mental stability.
