The Difference

Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. – James 5:13

Do you remember the first ballot you cast in a presidential election? Most people do. It may cause you to look back at your younger self with amusement or perhaps a sense of pride. Regardless, for many it was a memorable moment in life. Psychologists are fascinated with why people go out of their way, and in some cases go to great trouble, to cast one single vote! Most every study reveals the voting public believes that what they do, even if it is small, makes a difference in the bigger picture.

Today some may be celebrating the recent election while others are experiencing disappointment. The question is: do you STILL believe that what you do can make a difference?

“Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit” (James 5:17-18).

Prayers, like votes, are offered one per person, one at a time. On the right day, at the right time, Elijah’s prayer made a HUGE difference. Today, you need to stay vigilant, praying for God to work His will through the presidential administration, asking daily for His guidance and blessing upon America. Ask that America’s people from every walk of life will turn to God in hope, trusting Christ for life and salvation. Your faithful prayers each day will make all the difference. Know that others are praying along with you, too!

Today’s Verse: James 5:13

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
