As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him. – Romans 14:1
The Sea of Galilee is about 13 miles wide, 7 miles across, and 150 feet deep. However, it is about 700 feet below sea level and surrounded by mountains. When the warm air over the lake and cold air that comes over the tops of the mountains mix, storms can develop in minutes.
The Gospel of Mark describes a fierce storm that came out of nowhere during the night on the Sea of Galilee. Jesus was sleeping from exhaustion. The waves started crashing up against the boat and the disciples were fearful. They couldn’t believe He was still asleep through this storm. They shouted and when He awakened they said, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” Christ immediately rebukes the wind and waves. They obey and the sea becomes like glass. Then the Lord said, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Jesus said, “Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows” (John 16:33). Storms of life are tests that reveal Christians’ faith and spiritual maturity. Storms will reveal whether people live by fear or by faith. Storms will reveal if their heart is full of trust or doubt.
So when you see others struggling in their faith, remind them of God’s authority over their storm. Point them to His Word. And pray Ephesians 4:14 which says, “We are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of people, by craftiness in deceitful scheming.”
Pray also that your national leaders will call out to Christ as they navigate their personal storms.

On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” 36 And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
