Opportunity for public to weigh in hoped for by fishing industry.
The Biden Administration plans to accelerate development of offshore wind energy, with a new goal to double planned renewable energy production at sea by 2030. The Department of the Interior has already begun a review of processes and procedures to reinvigorate a rigorous renewable energy program, they said in a statement.
On Wednesday, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management said it would resume an environmental review of a major offshore wind farm project that was cancelled last year.
President Trump had promised to support the wind energy project as part of his energy dominance agenda, but permitting was delayed repeatedly in part due to concerns that turbines would interfere with commercial fishing. A fishing industry group said it hoped the resumption of the permitting process would provide new opportunities for the public to weigh in on the project.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- The God would guide the president’s administration regarding energy development.
- For the Department of Energy as alternative sources of power are explored.
- For the Department of the Interior as they review the processes and procedures for offshore wind farms.
