Faith Building

Building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit.  – Jude 1:20

Today’s verse says to build yourself up in holy faith. Following are a few ways you can do that. Read the Bible. “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17). Pray. As you pray you will become more aware of God and that He is aware of you, actively listening to your prayers. When His answers show up in your life, whether through that still, small voice or your changing circumstances, your faith builds. Fast. Something about fasting makes your inner self more aware of how important God is. When you deny yourself a meal you are making a statement to yourself and to God that spiritual issues are more important than temporal ones.

Remember. Make it a point to remember the times God has answered your prayers or has made Himself known to you in some way. Focusing on problems can cause you to forget the way He blesses and answers prayer. Memorize God’s promises. As you meditate on His promises they will become more evident in your life. Practice. Applying the Word of God and receiving its benefits will build your faith.

Share. Sharing your testimony will strengthen your faith and others’ faith as well. Listen. Spending time with other Christians and listening to their testimonies, whether in person, online, or in print, will increase your faith. Like Jesus prayed for Peter’s faith to not fail (Luke 22:32), pray for the strengthening of your own faith, and the faith of the citizens and leaders of this nation.

Today’s Verse: Jude 1:20

But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,

15 For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, 16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
