Concerns expressed over possible violence.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin this week regarding heightened security threats from ideologically-motivated extremists. The alert included concerns “that individuals frustrated with the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances and ideological causes” may incite or commit violence.
The bulletin released by DHS cautioned that these threats will remain through the early months of 2021 after the civil unrest experienced at the U.S. Capitol building in early January. The bulletin will be in place until April 30. No specific threats have been reported, but the department stated that possible targets include healthcare sectors, telecommunications, and the electricity grid.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For protection for federal government workers and officials.
- That God would guide DHS to prevent domestic attacks on citizens or public servants.
- For acting Secretary David Pekoske to be given wisdom on how to lead the Department.
