The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as King forever. – Psalm 29:10
What comes to mind when you think about water? The thunderous roar of Niagara Falls or concerning issues surrounding a lack of clean water in the world? Regardless of your first response, you are likely aware your body is 70 percent water, but perhaps unaware that too much water can extinguish your life completely. Water is important.
In the Bible, at first introduction to God, you find His Spirit hovering over the deep. Later, He uses water to correct and restart a corrupt civilization. In the New Testament, God’s Word is referred to as the water that cleanses the church. Living water is available to be drawn at the well of salvation and again found springing up, crystal clear, surrounding the throne of God in Heaven. Jesus is identified as the source of living water, offered free to every thirsty soul.
One of the greatest moments in the lives of Jesus’ Earthly disciples came on the night of Passover when Jesus revealed that His life would be made a sacrifice in death. Rising from the table, He poured water into a basin and washed the feet of His friends. Peter recoiled at the gesture as he felt undeserving of such an act. Jesus then explained that this was not merely about washing Peter’s feet but an example of servanthood and the coming salvation and cleansing of Peter’s entire soul.
Today, pray for leaders in America to seek the King enthroned over the many waters, discovering the washing of His Word, and being cleansed in the living water of Christ.
Today’s Verse: Psalm 29:10

3 For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. 4 But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
