Reaffirms commitments to nation’s allies.
Following his confirmation by the Senate, Secretary of State Antony Blinken began his role as the top diplomat of the United States. At the start of his first day on the job, Secretary Blinken pledged to alter the diplomatic direction from the previous administration. The goal of the newly structured State Department will be to reaffirm the United States’ commitment to its allies.
Secretary Blinken stated, “The world is watching us intently right now. They want to know if we can heal our nation. They want to see whether we will lead with the power of our example and if we will put a premium on diplomacy with our allies and partners to meet the great challenges of our time — like the pandemic, climate change, the economic crisis, threats to democracies, fights for racial justice and the danger to our security and global stability posed by our rivals and adversaries.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the Lord to guide the State Department as it builds relationships with other governments.
- That Secretary Blinkin would be helped by the Lord to lead the State Department with wisdom and strength.
- For the president’s administration as they work out diplomatic policy.
