Lloyd J. Austin becomes the leader of the Pentagon
The Senate voted on Friday to approved President Biden’s pick for the Secretary of Defense Department, Lloyd J. Austin. A graduate from West Point, Secretary Austin has had an illustrious career in the military over the past 41 years achieving the rank of four-star general.
Prior to the appointment, Congress issued a waiver from the law that restricts the appointment of active military personnel to the position of Defense Secretary. By law, this position must be filled by a civilian leader who has been out of the military service for at least seven years. The congressional waiver grants an exception to this law. He received bipartisan support of his appointment from the Senate.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For God to guide and direct Secretary Austin as he takes over the responsibilities of his office.
- For Secretary Austin to seek the will of God in all decisions that he makes as the Secretary of Defense
- That God would protect the enlisted men and women in our armed forces.
