He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings. – Daniel 2:21
Albert Einstein wrote an essay about the theory of relativity when he was 16. By age 26, he had published five major papers in a German journal. He even received his doctorate for one of those papers. The ideas he introduced were highly revolutionary regarding the scientific universe. When the Nazis came to power, they denounced Einstein’s work and burned his books. He moved to America and became a U.S. citizen.
In 1939, Einstein learned that German scientists had split the uranium atom. He wrote a letter to President Franklin Roosevelt warning him about the German discovery which he predicted would lead to the invention of the atomic bomb. Because of Einstein’s advice, the U.S. government established the Manhattan Project, which developed the first two atomic bombs in 1945. Einstein’s ideas changed not only the way scientists think about matter, but also the way war is conducted. Yet to his shock, modern philosophers took his scientific theory of relativity and applied it to the moral realm. This destroyed society’s belief in absolute truth and helped produce acceptance for situational ethics.
Every day new scientific discoveries change what people previously accepted as factual. In truth, most scientists spend their lives trying to understand and solve the mysteries of life and the universe. But God is omniscient. He is all-knowing and to Him there are no mysteries.
So, remember that the Lord governs the world according to His purposes. As you worship Him, proclaim the reasons that He is glorious and worthy of praise. Pray that America’s legislators discover His omniscience in the world, in the nation, and in their lives.
Today’s Verse: Daniel 2:21

he removes kings and sets up kings;
he gives wisdom to the wise

Lift up your eyes on high and see:
who created these?
He who brings out their host by number,
calling them all by name;
by the greatness of his might
and because he is strong in power,
not one is missing.
27 Why do you say, O Jacob,
and speak, O Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord,
and my right is disregarded by my God”?
28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
30 Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.
