Chicago and San Francisco designated as “transportation hubs” of drugs.
Last week, the Drug Enforcement Administration announced the designation of Chicago and San Francisco as transportation hubs for methamphetamines under Operation Crystal Shield. This operation began nearly a year ago to identify supply chains and prevent distribution of the drug into local communities.
Then-Acting Administrator Timothy Shea said, “This is an ever-evolving initiative to protect the American people from the dangers of methamphetamine. It is imperative we continue to keep up the intensity and reverse the trend of increased meth on our streets and deaths from meth use and overdose.”
This action is under review by the new administration.
