Job market experiencing the results of virus surge and lockdowns.
The Department of Labor released the most recent data on the status of the U.S. job market on Thursday. The number of people seeking unemployment insurance rose to 965,000 a week ago – signifying that the resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns have put new pressures on employment.
This level of unemployment has not been seen since last August, following the spike in March nearing 7 million people who lost their jobs. While the United States is currently experiencing a significant wave of coronavirus infections, leaders within President Trump’s administration expect that the economy will begin to make a full recovery as the COVID-19 vaccine is distributed to more and more Americans.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That the Lord will provide employment for Americans who need it.
- For the Labor Department to be given wisdom from above as it measures the health of the economy.
- For God to help the president’s administration bring about economic recovery to the American people.
