Concerns raised over Capitol police response.
Following the events that took place on Wednesday in Washington, D.C., Congress announced that it would begin an investigation into the response of the Capitol Police’s protection of the Capitol Building. Four people reportedly lost their lives in the midst of the demonstration in Washington that also resulted in lawmakers evacuating the premises.
The Capitol Police has stated that it had responded within reason and that members of the force acted bravely in the handling of demonstrators infiltrating the Capitol building. The chief of the Capitol Police said that the situation was, “unlike any I have ever experienced in my 30 years in law enforcement here in Washington, D.C.”
