Two top Administration officials have been subpoenaed.
The House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis has opened an investigation into alleged political interference at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
They served subpoenas on Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar and CDC Director Robert Redfield. Both officials are required to hand over documents the committee had previously requested, which House officials allege the Trump Administration was attempting to conceal.
Representative James Clyburn of South Carolina, the chairman, wrote in a letter accompanying the subpoenas that they “were necessary because the Select Subcommittee’s investigation has revealed that efforts to interfere with scientific work at CDC were far more extensive and dangerous than previously known.”
Subcommittee ranking member Steve Scalise of Louisiana said, “Today’s subpoenas are just for show.” He stated that political opponents are searching ”for imaginary evidence of improper political influence in the Trump Administration’s whole-of-America pandemic response.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- With thanksgiving for the actions taken under the Trump Administration’s Operation Warp Speed to provide vaccines against the coronavirus.
- For members of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus and their investigations into possible wrongful influence.
- For Secretary Azar and Director Redfield and the responses they will make to the committee’s subpoenas.
