Ending current session with sights on new term in January.
Members of the House of Representatives returned to Washington, D.C. on Monday to kick off the remaining session after the 2020 election. The rest of this session is expected to consist largely of electing the next leaders of the house, an additional COVID-19 stimulus bill, and the nation’s annual spending bill. Members will also utilize new testing standards to track coronavirus among representatives and their staff.
When asked how Congress would use the time between now and the new term in January, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, “Again, our focus in the Congress now… continues to be on COVID relief. This is a red alert. All hands on deck.” The coming months will determine if Speaker Pelosi will continue in her role in the upcoming 2021 term.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For God to lead the House of Representatives in this final term of 2020.
- For Speaker Pelosi to have wisdom as she leads the House.
- For the Lord to guide Representatives on whom to choose as the next Speaker of the House.
