Walk in the light as He is in the light.
John 12:46 – I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.
Ask someone who lives in a part of the world where it’s normal to have an overcast climate and where certain times of the year sunshine is rare… he or she is certain to have experienced symptoms that accompany seasonable affective disorder (SAD). It is just as difficult to treat SAD the disorder as it is to treat depression, but alleviating either often comes with light therapy—exposure to natural light or to therapy lights that are color corrected to be as near to natural sunshine as possible. But artificial light goes only so far. The sun and all it brings is the highest curative.
Just as the sun brings restoration to the SAD disorder, so the Son of God is the source of restoration for the darkness of the soul. Jesus says he is the Light of the World. In 1 John 1:5 you read, “God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”
At a time when people are praying that things done in the darkness would be exposed, it is important to remember that they are being done in darkness because that is where the souls of the evil-doers exist. Prayers, then, should also be for those who dwell in darkness to be brought into the light of the Savior. Isaiah 9:2 says, “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.”
Pray With Us
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus, the Light of the World, to us so that we might be restored to You. Help us to be in such close fellowship with You that His light would be reflected in our lives. Help us to stand for light in the dark times. We do pray that the things being done in darkness would be exposed and made right. We long for justice. We also know that You are working to an end that will bring glory to You, and we place our full confidence in You. Amen.
