This is not mission impossible!
Romans 13:12 – The night is far gone, the day is at hand. So let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.
In 1787, the year America’s Constitution was written, the Founding Fathers also passed the Northwest Ordinance. It stated, “Religion, morality, and knowledge, being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged.” By 1800, schools across the new nation were teaching from McGuffey Readers. William McGuffey, those texts’ author and assembler, wrote, “The Christian religion is the religion of our country. From It are derived our prevalent notions of the character of God, the great moral governor of the universe. On its doctrines are founded the peculiarities of our free nation.” In his Readers, Biblical and moral principles were taught, and through them embedded in the hearts and minds of every school child.
Today, watching at last the results of America’s presidential election and the tensions and actions taking place in America’s streets, it is evident that basic Christian tenets are not being transferred to the nation’s young people. Instead, they are being taught secularism and atheism, encouraged to establish themselves as independent from God or his laws, and the result is no restraint. Justice must be restored in America, but unless you have been officially appointed, hired, or elected, it is not up to you to dispense it. Rather, the law that God wants you to apply is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself” (Luke 10:27). Furthermore, “You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18). These are not just suggestions, they are the commands of the Lord. It is the work you must now do, for, without that love, there will be no national repentance, no national restoration, no return of restraint.

Oh Lord my God, thank You for being knowable; thank You for Your Word. As Psalm 73:25 says, “Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire beside you.” I love You, Lord. I delight to do Your will and eagerly want to obey Your commands. Let my love for You overflow into love for my neighbors, even for those who are centered on rebellion, for their ultimate rebellion is against You. Remind me to pray for them as earnestly as I pray for those who are dear to me because their souls are dear to You. Indelibly instill that message on my heart, so that in the days to come all will know that I love You and them. For the sake of Jesus my Redeemer,
