Liberal cities could lose coronavirus aid under the adminisrtation’s plan
On Tuesday, documents from the White House revealed that the Trump Administration was considering defunding cities in the United States labeled by the Justice Department as “Anarchist Jurisdictions.” President Trump’s Administration deems the lack of police response to bring demonstrations and unrest under control as being insufficient for providing law and order in such cities as Seattle, New York, and Washington, D.C.
The defunding would come in the form of grants offered by the Department of Health and Human Services. Over 200 health programs could be cut as a result of the plan. President Trump stated last month, “My Administration will do everything in its power to prevent weak mayors and lawless cities from taking Federal dollars while they let anarchists harm people, burn buildings, and ruin lives and businesses.”
