Believes red-cockaded woodpecker has made sufficient recovery.
The Department of the Interior announced last week that it was considering downlisting the protections for the red-cockaded woodpecker from endangered to threatened under the Endangered Species Act. The Interior Department believes that populations have made sufficient recovery over the past decades, and now no longer needed to be considered on the brink of extinction.
”Partnering for conservation has improved the condition of the red-cockaded woodpecker. It also allows us to take this important downlisting step. The Trump Administration continues to engage public and private interests in conserving our most imperiled species through efficient, commonsense regulation that facilitates cooperation and on the ground results rather than conflict,” said Interior Secretary Bernhardt.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That God would use the Interior Department to be good stewards of His creation.
- For God to use Secretary Bernhardt to lead the Interior Department with wisdom and grace.
- That the Trump Administration would bring about the flourishing of God’s creation.
