Stay Where the Light Is

Mirror God’s light in your life.

Isaiah 49:9 ERV –You will tell those who are in darkness, “Come out of the dark!”

A power outage cast darkness across a large swath of Manhattan in August. Tens of thousands of people in other parts of New York City were without electricity. What happened? Tropical Storm Isaias. Crews worked around the clock to restore power to this large metropolitan area. But the storm had passed several days before. The mayor said the problem was a lightning strike. The utility, Con Edison, blamed seepage of water from the storm. But it left citizens worried about the integrity of the region’s power grid.

Power outages are more than a nuisance. They can leave you without heating or air conditioning, lighting, hot water, or even running water and flushing toilets. If you have only a cordless phone, you could be left without phone service. If you do not have a battery-powered or crank radio, you may have no way of monitoring news broadcasts. You can only sit and wait in darkness.

1 John 1:5 reminds you that “God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.” John 1:5 says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” Jesus is that Light. He has invited you to be with Him in that light…and to reflect His light to others.  Matthew 5:15 says, “Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.”  Shine brightly today. You are God’s beloved child.

Pray With Us

Holy God, You are so good.  You have blessed my life with purpose and joy. I love to share Your Word with others. Give me that opportunity today, Heavenly Father. Keep my reflection of You shining brightly. Thank You for Jesus Christ, who has brought me out of darkness into Your marvelous light,

Amen.
