Ephesians 6:12 – For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Nowadays, it feels like everyone is fighting for something – COVID vaccines, racial changes, political changes – the list could go on forever. It has led to an “us vs. them” culture in the country. With so much disagreement, it is easy to feel pressured into figuring out who your “enemy” is and who is “on your side.” Before you decide to join in the fight, pause and listen to the words of Paul to the church in Ephesus:
Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm…Keep alert with perseverance, making supplication for all the saints (Ephesians 6:10-13, 18).
Your struggle is not against other people. Your real fight as a Christ-follower is so much bigger. The real battle is against the evil attacking your spirit. While those other issues are important, they pale in comparison to the real fight. Are you ready for that? Do you have the armor of God with you for protection? Before you decide to choose a side, pause and look deeper to find the truth worth fighting for.
Pray With Us
God, You know that there are so many things working hard to tear me away from You. Today, I ask for protection against those things. Give me Your armor, that I may be ready for whatever battle may come at me. God, I don’t want to add to the noise and fighting already happening between people. I want to fight for Your truth, to win more people to You. Thank You that You will never leave me alone in this fight.
Amen.
