Callista Louise Gingrich was born in March 1966 in Whitehall, Wisconsin. She graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Later, she was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Ave Maria School of Law.

She has authored seven children’s books.
President Donald Trump nominated her to be the U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See (the Vatican). She was confirmed by the Senate. She presented her credentials to Pope Francis and officially assumed her duties in December 2017.
She is married to former U.S. Representative Newt Gingrich and is a Roman Catholic.
