Wedding Attire

It was granted to her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure. For the fine linen is the righteous deed of the saints.  – Revelation 19:8

Little boys in miniature tuxedos – one of the most memorable parts of many weddings. The Bible is full of symbolism representing God and His people in a marriage-like relationship. From Genesis to Revelation, the whole Book points to a day when God’s Messiah, His Son Jesus Christ, weds His beloved Bride, the Church, and they spend eternity in a blissful union. Wedding attire on that day will be very special also.

The Groom – humble Jesus, man of Galilee, arrives as the resurrected conquering Christ. Upon a white horse he enters and is called Faithful and True. Wearing many crowns and one is stamped “Victory,” He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood.  He has done war with the false prophet and the antichrist overcoming them and overthrowing the great harlot that has opposed God’s Kingdom since time began.

The Bride – God’s church, those accepting His Lordship and receiving His Son as Savior King will be dressed in finery. Resplendent in the shining deeds of the saints, the bride radiates beauty and is ready to stand beside her Groom before witnesses from across the ages.

Today pray for God’s church in America to remain faithful in the challenging days to come. Ask that pastors and lay leaders do what is right before God, refusing to bow to cultural pressure and distorting the Gospel. As a follower of Christ, a saint of God yourself, be bold in doing good deeds of righteousness, adorning the bride for her wedding day.

Today’s Verse: Revelation 19:8

it was granted her to clothe herself
with fine linen, bright and pure”—

for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.

21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
