Cuba-origin alcohol and tobacco banned from import.
As part of his ongoing efforts to deter communism, President Trump has applied new sanctions against Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua.
The new rules prevent American travelers from attending or organizing certain professional meetings or conferences in Cuba, as well as public performances, clinics, workshops, competitions, and other exhibitions in that country. The rules also restrict importing Cuba-origin alcohol and tobacco products.
His announcement was made during an address honoring Bay of Pigs veterans who survived a failed attempt more than 60 years ago to topple the communist government of Fidel Castro.
“The courageous veterans here today bear witness to how socialism, radical mobs, and violent communists, ruin a nation,” President Trump said. “Today, we proclaim that America will never be a socialist country.”
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement, “The Cuban government’s profits from properties in the hospitality industry owned or controlled by the Cuban government, senior regime officials, Cuban Communist Party leadership, and their families, disproportionately benefit the Cuban government, all at the expense of the Cuban people, who continue to face repression at the hands of the regime.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump as he attempts to protect the American way of life.
- For the socialist or communist nations being sanctioned to care for their people’s wellbeing.
- For those who in Congress who believe that socialism is a better form of government.
- For God’s will to be done in the United States.
