This morning President Donald Trump will give an interview from the White House to a Detroit news outlet. As the president considers who he will nominate to the Supreme Court to fill the vacancy left by the passing of Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg last Friday, Judge Joan Larsen of Michigan, who currently serves on the Sixth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, is said to be on the short list of candidates.
President Trump said of the decision process, “We’re looking for somebody who’s brilliant, really understands the law and abides by the Constitution.” Judge Larsen was reportedly considered in 2018, though Justice Kavanaugh was ultimately confirmed.
Later in the day, President Trump will hold a Great American Comeback event at the Pittsburgh International Airport in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. The president is expected to speak about maintaining law and order, and the importance of fracking and trade for that state.
