Act for the preservation of our liberties.
James 1:25 – But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.
America’s Founding Fathers in framing the Constitution were intent on their vision that the very purpose of that document is the protection of the nation’s blood-earned rights for liberty, justice, and freedom from tyrannical government. In the Preamble they write that the constitution was ordained and established to “secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.”
A blog from The Freeman Online says, “In answering the question of what does securing the blessing of liberty mean, it should be borne in mind that right from creation, all men were born equal and with that, we all possess rights which have to be protected by the body of law. It is these rights that are referred to as the blessings of liberty.”
The Constitution confirms what the Founders had said years before in the Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
In today’s America, the rights enumerated in the Constitution’s Bill of Rights are under siege…particularly those in the First Amendment. Christian, it is time to speak up in defense of those liberties, not to just hear the words but, as James says, do something about it. At the very minimum, you must utilize your God-given and Constitution-bestowed right to vote. Too many evangelical Christians sit out the elections. This is not the year for you to do so.

Holy God, our election is coming soon and I am still perplexed in some areas about who it is that should get my vote. I feel sometimes that, unless I am firm in my resolve, it might be better not to vote or to vote for some obscure candidate as a kind of protest. Minister to my spirit by Your Holy Spirit, guide me to knowing who Your person is for the job of being our next president , then honor me with courage to find conviction and to vote. Thank You for answering my prayer, for I come to you in the Name of Jesus,
