On Sunday, President Trump continued progress toward his campaign promise of lowering drug prices in America by signing a new executive order. The order is designed to decrease drug prices by linking the amount that could be charged for them to the cost of the same drugs in other countries.
The president announced this action on Twitter, saying, “Just signed a new Executive Order to LOWER DRUG PRICES! My Most Favored Nation order will ensure that our Country gets the same low price Big Pharma gives to other countries.”
The order calls on HHS Secretary Azar to change the amount Medicare and Medicaid pay drug companies to fall in line with a newly created payment model.
