Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.
Moses is one of the great “celebrities” of the Bible – known for his excellent leadership of Israel and his unending faith in God to lead him. But, like all men, there came a time when Moses had to step down from leadership – something that greatly worried the people of Israel. God’s timing of this couldn’t have been worse – or so it seemed. Israel was preparing to finally enter the Promised Land after years of wandering through the wilderness. And, as if a big move wasn’t enough of a stressor to the people, they knew they were going to have to take the land by force – which meant preparing for battle. And God chose NOW to switch leaders?? Really?
Before departing from the people, though, Moses gathered them all together to give them some encouragement: “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear… the LORD your God goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6).
The same God that was with Israel as they faced new, seemingly impossible challenges is the same God who is with you today. He has already gone before you. He will not leave you or forsake you. May you find strength in this promise. No matter what life throws at you, know that you serve a God who is ready and able to lead you through it.
Pray With Us
Father God, thank You that You do go before me. God, I ask You to help me remember all that you’ve already done during my times of fear or doubt. Remind me of Your power and control over every situation. Help me trust You more with each day. Thank You for Your promise that You will always be here with me. Give me faith like Moses. I humbly ask all these things in the precious name of Your Son, Jesus,
Amen.
