In every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. – Acts 10:35
Who is to say what is “right?” For many, it merely means being guided by your own moral compass. Sin or disobedience to God’s commands is irrelevant to the one focused solely on living by their own personal code.
The Bible speaks to the post-modern idea that you can decide for yourself what is right. “Fools mock at the guilt offering, but the upright enjoy acceptance… There is a way that seems right to a man but its end is the way to death” (Proverbs 14:9, 12).
The Gospel of Christ offers amazing good news for those willing to acknowledge God’s place as Author of life and Judge of humankind. Those willing to admit the limitations of their own perspective and ask for divine help will indeed see what the “next right thing” might be. Make no mistake, God requires nothing other than humble acceptance of His grace to begin to know Him and follow in His ways. Jesus said “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find: knock and it will be opened to you (Matthew 7:7).
When a nation teems with people in awe of God, seeking His leadership –THAT nation will be blessed with direction and peace and the ability to do right. Pray that America’s next election will result in people of humble faith filling offices of influence. Ask God to preserve the nation, honor those seeking Him, and be a person willing to do right in God’s sight.

remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes;
cease to do evil,
17 learn to do good;
seek justice,
correct oppression;

plead the widow’s cause.
18 “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool.
19 If you are willing and obedient,
you shall eat the good of the land;
20 but if you refuse and rebel,
you shall be eaten by the sword;
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
