Technological advancement funds include quantum computing.
“Today, the Trump Administration is making an unprecedented investment to strengthen American leadership in AI [artificial intelligence] and quantum, and to ensure the Nation benefits from these emerging technologies,” said Michael Kratsios, the White House’s chief technology officer. “Built upon the uniquely American free market approach to technological advancement, three universities will be world-class hubs for accelerating American innovation and building the 21st century American workforce.”
More than $1 billion in funding for new research institutes will be allocated to seven National Science Foundation-led AI institutes and five Department of Energy-led quantum computing ones over the next five years.
The quantum computing centers will get a boost from private sector companies including IBM, Microsoft, Intel, Applied Materials, and Lockheed Martin.
A bipartisan group in the Senate led by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York introduced the Endless Frontiers Act in May that would create a Directorate of Technology at the National Science Foundation that would be given $100 billion over five years to invest in American research and technology issues, including quantum computing.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the Department of Energy as they participate in the Endless Frontiers Act.
- For the National Science Foundation as they work to advance U.S. research and technology.
- That the scientists and others working on the projects for the U.S. would be carefully vetted, without ties to any foreign governments.
