Conformity

Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations.  – Psalm 46:10

Conformity is an ugly word in society today. Few want to adapt to anything but their own agenda. You are encouraged to pick a battle, resist, rebel, fight, and push back at all costs to change the world!

Finding rest in your soul amidst life’s chaos means finding oneness with the Spirit of God. Jesus gave us the ultimate example in the crescendo moments of His life. In the garden of Gethsemane, at the peak of His emotional suffering, Jesus was bearing the weight of the world’s evil. Agony and darkness filled His heart as He wrestled with His Father’s will. E.M. Bounds says, “Christ was one with God’s plan and one with God’s will, and not in mere submission. Submission is non-rebellion, acquiescence, which is good, but it is not conformity. Conformity is the highest, most powerful form of praying. It means to stand perfect and complete in ALL the will of God. It changes things, and brings things to pass.”

While His friends slept and Satan empowered His enemies, Jesus found peace in conformity. Matching His will to the Father’s will fueled His human strength to complete the essential work of rescuing humanity from sin.

Today, you can also find peace and strength in prayer. Like Jesus, yield yourself fully to God asking for the courage to conform your will to His. Entrust America to the Father’s plan, praying as He leads you. Ironically, through that conformity, you WILL change the world.

Today’s Verse: Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”

13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 17 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, 18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
