So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. – Romans 10:17
Headline news can be very discouraging, and depending on who writes it, the slant of it can be on point or very misleading. TV Newscasters sometimes describe current events in such a dire way that it can create fear in anyone’s mind… if you let it. Fear will take over if you listen only to the words of men. Your mission, then, is to filter the news through the Word of God.
Commentator Matthew Henry calls the Bible “the word of faith.” Hearing and meditating on it will befriend and nourish your faith. You will learn to trust the Lord more and more in all aspects of your life because His Word is truth.
There are many today who are missing the truth that God is real and truly cares for them. Looking at Romans 15:13-15 in reverse order the Lord says that no one would hear His Word if He did not send preachers. If no one heard, no one could believe. If no one believes, no one would call on the Lord. If no one calls upon the Lord, no one could be saved. Scripture says that God sent Jesus into the world that “the world might be saved through Him” (John 3:17).
Pray for this nation and its leaders that they would know God’s truth and receive wisdom to make right decisions. Now is not the time to be fearful, Beloved. Do not hesitate to be courageous in standing for your faith and telling others of the hope they too can experience in knowing Christ as their Lord and Savior. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, will be fulfilling, strengthening, and encouraging.

The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
2 Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
7 The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple;
8 the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
9 the fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever;
the rules of the Lord are true,
and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey
and drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
