America may be failing in truth detection.
Philippians 1:9-10 – It is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent.
Is it true? It sounds like it could be. How many times do you question what you hear, especially in election years when reports can be skewed and ideas inflated. God wants you to be able to stand firm in His Word and be aware of false teachings or deceptive politicians.
The enemy of truth is subtle and cunning. Know your enemy and his ways. Jesus said in John 8:44, “He does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies,” and he has always been that way.
That enemy will even quote Scripture to you, but he will distort it, just as he did when he tried to tempt Jesus.
God wants you to walk in wisdom and have the ability to distinguish between right and wrong, good and evil, sound and unsound, truth and error, using the wisdom of His Word. The Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to reveal and teach the truth, and that will be crucial if you are to make wise choices in November.
You can learn to discern by being alert. Changes in culture could be good or corrupting. You need to really know the truth, and that comes from a regular study of His Word. When you rightly handle the Scriptures, you will be like the bank tellers who recognize counterfeits because they handle the real thing all the day long.
Pray With Us
Almighty Father, You have rained blessings down upon me by the gift of Your Holy Word. Reveal to me through your Scriptures the things that are in error being poured out daily in all forms of media. Keep me from being caught up in the enemy’s snare. Identify false teachers around me. Remind me that my spiritual armor includes the “belt of truth” as outlined in Ephesians 6:14. Then give me boldness through Your Holy Spirit to call out error when I discern it. I pray that You will be glorified in truth in the coming election, for Jesus’ sake,
