So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper, I will not fear; what can man do to me?” – Hebrews 13:6
Astronaut Charles Duke was the youngest person to walk on the moon. In 1972, Duke and John Young explored the moon’s surface during Apollo 16’s mission to the Descartes region. They collected more than 200 pounds of rock and soil samples. On his last day there, Duke left a photo of his family. Reflecting on his experience he said, “The moon was awesome, exciting and adventurous. It was … the most beautiful desert.”
Yet later, at a 1996 Texas prayer rally, Duke said: “I used to say I could live ten thousand years and never have an experience as thrilling as walking on the moon. But the excitement and satisfaction of that walk doesn’t begin to compare with my walk with Jesus, a walk that lasts forever.”
Psalm 33:8 says, “Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.” The Creator of the universe has more power than all the forces of nature. The combined energy of earth’s storms, winds, ocean waves and other natural forces do not equal a fraction of His omnipotence. In the face of His power, mere humans look very small and that is the way He intends it.
God wants to give you confidence that He is able to meet every need you have. So whatever trials you face, remember to boldly walk knowing that the Lord is your Protector and Friend. Pray that America’s leaders do the same as they put their confidence in Him for their personal and public decisions.

5 Out of my distress I called on the Lord;
the Lord answered me and set me free.
6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.
What can man do to me?
7 The Lord is on my side as my helper;
I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.
8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in man.
9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in princes.
10 All nations surrounded me;
in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
11 They surrounded me, surrounded me on every side;
in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
12 They surrounded me like bees;
they went out like a fire among thorns;
in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
13 I was pushed hard, so that I was falling,
but the Lord helped me.
14 The Lord is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation.
