Nations seeking common ground on several issues.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo traveled to Hawaii on Wednesday to have a series of meetings with China’s top diplomat Yang Jiechi. The meetings were designed to work with China to develop a shared understanding on topics ranging from human rights, the status of Hong Kong, and COVID-19 Response.
In a statement from the State Department, Secretary Pompeo called for “”fully-reciprocal dealings between the two nations across commercial, security, and diplomatic interactions.” China’s Foreign Ministry state that “the Chinese side is devoted to working together with the United States to develop a relationship with no conflict and no confrontation, of mutual respect and win-win cooperation.”
