Today, President Donald Trump has no public events on his agenda. He will be receiving an intelligence briefing around midday.

National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien, Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, and often Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are in attendance at the president’s intelligence briefings.

Secretary Pompeo met with Chinese Communist Party Politburo Member Yang Jiechi in Honolulu, Hawaii earlier this week. The two diplomats discussed trade and security issues and the need to open new channels of communication, which would require reciprocal and transparent information sharing.

The United States needs cooperation from China in order to deal with the situation with North Korea. The North Koreans recently indicated dissatisfaction with the lack of progress in nuclear talks and have begun remilitarizing parts of the border that had previously seen reduced tensions.

Also, concerns that China has been spying on and stealing intellectual property have led members of the U.S. Senate to introduce legislation that would protect research and innovation on American university and college campuses. Called the “Safeguarding American Innovation Act,” the bill would strengthen the State Department’s ability to refuse visas to foreign nationals who could represent a security risk.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president’s intelligence briefing to adequately inform his administration to the areas requiring additional action.
  • For the members of the U.S. intelligence community to obtain accurate information.
  • For the Lord’s will to be done in the strategies that result from the intelligence briefing.
