You Are Special

Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me – John 14:1

The world knew him as “Mister Rogers.” Famous for his red sweater, tennis shoes and puppets, Fred Rogers appeared on his television show as a patient man who taught children and adults how to love and forgive. In fact, Rogers was an ordained Presbyterian minister and viewed his television series as a ministry.

Yet he was the same kind and compassionate person in private that he was on-screen. He often prayed for others and treated every person with only respect and dignity.

His wife, Joanne said, “His faith was exceedingly strong. He didn’t need funny hats to entertain children. He needed to be himself. It was a ministry for him. He wanted to be a minister. He wanted to be a teacher.”

In the mornings, before Rogers taped his television program, Make-A-Wish children would often come to the set. And though his impatient crew members were ready to tape, he spent quality time with each child and the family. Roger always gave his full attention to the individual with whom he was speaking. It was as if that person was the only human being in the universe.

Jesus promises a place for you in His presence when this life on Earth is over. In fact, He described Heaven as a huge house with more than enough space for all who believe in Him. So just think of it! You will have the complete attention of your Heavenly Father and worship Him face-to-face throughout eternity. So despite your circumstances today, remember how special you are to God. Trust Him for every detail of your life. Pray that America’s leaders will do the same.

In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
