Today, President Donald Trump will meet with Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar to discuss the progress in reopening the country with safeguards in place for the health of the population.
A week ago, Secretary Azar said, “Thanks to President Trump’s and our governors’ historic response to this, we have to and we can get back to work.” The HHS secretary was supportive of the president’s call to open houses of worship last week, as long as they take “appropriate precautions.”
Secretary Azar has voiced that the reopening of the country is in actuality a health vs. health situation, as so many patients have not been receiving health screenings, preventative care, and necessary medical procedures during the lockdowns. On Friday, Azar unveiled the administration’s six-part strategy that he said “should give our large businesses and small businesses and the people in our communities the confidence that we have the tools and strategy to reopen to get back to our schools, back to work and back to our communities.”
