He announced immediate steps being taken.
Early Monday evening, President Trump made a few remarks from the White House Rose Garden.
He began by decrying the events surrounding the death of George Floyd, the centerpiece of the violence and rage across America. However, he said, there is no excuse for the destruction that has occurred. He stated he will be taking immediate steps to end the riots and lawlessness.
Every governor is to deploy National Guard in sufficient numbers to dominate these violent groups. If they don’t defend their neighborhoods, the president will take action to protect them.
He said he is taking action to protect the nation’s capital. Thousands of heavily armed soldiers are being dispatched to stop the rioting, looting, vandalism, assaults, and the wanton destruction of property. A 7 p.m. curfew will be enforced.
Organizers were put on notice that they will face severe penalties and lengthy years in jail. Antifa and other instigators will be held accountable.
President Trump said he is a “law and order” president, sworn to uphold the laws and Constitution of the United States, and that is what he will do.
Once law is restored, “we will help businesses and families,” he said.
“The rule of law is the foundation of the American way of life. Where there is no law, there is no opportunity; where there is no justice, there is no liberty,” the president said.
He said he was firmly resolved, with passionate love for the country.
He took no questions.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump and his resolve to see that the nation’s laws are enforced.
- For the peaceful demonstrators to remove themselves from the groups bent on agitation, violence and destruction.
