With employer consent, workers can adjust their coverage.
The IRS recently announced that, for the remainder of 2020, employees can change their health coverage programs as long as their employer agrees to it. With many being financially strapped due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the IRS and other health care providers hope that having the option to downgrade one’s healthcare plan to a less expensive option will help lighten the load on citizens.
As with most issues happening in America today, some health care experts were underwhelmed and critical of these efforts. “It’s not likely that many people will take up this new coverage opportunity, and it won’t address the problem of lack of coverage that many people are facing,” says Sabrina Corlette, a research professor at Georgetown University’s Center on Health Insurance Reforms. One will have to see how many people take advantage of this offer by the end of the year.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the leaders of the federal tax system as they attempt to help America recover from the pandemic.
- That the Lord would provide health to our American workers during this tumultuous time.
- For people to find stability in the Lord as they face potentially overwhelming current issues.
